Derek Von Haag, MD
Dr. von Haag obtained his medical degree from the University of California in Irvine after receiving a dual bachelor's degree in biology and zoology from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He completed his internship and residency at University of California Davis Medical Center. He then completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. von Haag’s specialty training includes minimally invasive surgery procedures, including closed-chest aortic valve, mitral valve, artery bypass, atrial fibrillation ablation and robotic surgery.
He works collaboratively with his colleagues and patients to obtain the best possible outcomes and serves as the director of cardiovascular surgery for Carondelet Heart & Vascular Institute. His professional memberships include The International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgery, American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
