Kimberly Carlson, DO
Growing up, medicine was always a part of my family. Both my father and uncle were family medicine physicians. I followed in their medical footsteps and spent many great years as an emergency room nurse. Yet, I wanted more. So, after my third child, I went on to medical school and earned my doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, as my father and uncle had done.
In my practice, I treat my patients like they are part of my family and do my best to give them the tools they need to be healthy. The ultimate goal is ensuring patients are responsible for their own health.
I believe my patients appreciate my ability to listen. I take the time to talk with them before delving into any type of medical exam. I aim to treat the whole person - mind, body and spirit - not just the "broken bones" or chronic condition. Through the years, I have taken a special interest in preventative health, women's health and diabetes.
I see newborns to seniors. Being a mom and having raised three children helps me better understand the challenges parents face. I encourage all my patients to talk to me and be open to what is going on in their life. Listening always gives the best insight on how to correctly diagnose and treat them.
I am originally from Michigan but have lived in Tucson ever since my internship. Outside of work, I enjoy knitting, traveling, reading and spending time with my grandchildren.
